Meet Adam
One of the core themes of my life is bridging difference. I have always been drawn to science, religion, and art, seeking to make meaning in many ways. I was raised attending a Lutheran church with Universalist theology at home. I am a country person by nature, but I have lived and served in urban and suburban settings. I am a scholar who uses my mind, as well as a practical person who delights in the work of the body. I love leading worship and teaching in congregations and communities, yet I cherish solitude and one-on-one conversation.
Following this all-of-the-above path has led me into training as a neurobiologist, educator, storyteller, artist, and clergyperson. My work ranges from parish ministry to institutional consulting, from performance to teaching. When not working, I create art, tend my gardens, and enjoy the wilder spaces beyond. Having lived in New York, Ireland, California, Arizona, and Illinois, I now live in the woods of Connecticut with my partner, our dog, two looms, three harps, and more plants and books than I can count.

Publishing and teaching within and beyond religion and spirituality.
Ministry
I have been a parish minster and spiritual director for over fifteen years, serving Unitarian Universalist congregations and working with people of a wide variety of religious and spiritual backgrounds.
Academia
I am a lifelong student and teacher, working on my third graduate degree. My scholarly interests include spirituality, formation/pedagogy, theology, performance studies, and human development/behavior.
Performance
I have over 40 years of performance experience in music, theatre, puppetry, storytelling, and worship. I’ve been on- and off-camera, performing in small venues and in front of thousands of people.
Writing
My writing includes fiction, non-fiction, poetry, curricula, presentations, and scholarly work. I have been a copyeditor and editor-in-chief, too, but I love communicating through writing.
